سورة Al-An'am ( The Cattle ) - English - Shakir - الآية 42 عدد الآيات 165

وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أُمَمٍۢ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَأَخَذْنَٰهُم بِٱلْبَأْسَآءِ وَٱلضَّرَّآءِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَضَرَّعُونَ ﴿٤٢﴾

And certainly We sent (apostles) to nations before you then We seized them with distress and affliction in order that they might humble themselves.
