سورة Al-An'am ( The Cattle ) - English - Rowwad Translation Center - الآية 42 عدد الآيات 165

وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أُمَمٍۢ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَأَخَذْنَٰهُم بِٱلْبَأْسَآءِ وَٱلضَّرَّآءِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَضَرَّعُونَ ﴿٤٢﴾

We sent messengers to nations before you and seized them with poverty and hardship, so that they may humble themselves.
