سورة Al-An'am ( The Cattle ) - English - Ahmed Ali - الآية 42 عدد الآيات 165

وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أُمَمٍۢ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَأَخَذْنَٰهُم بِٱلْبَأْسَآءِ وَٱلضَّرَّآءِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَضَرَّعُونَ ﴿٤٢﴾

We have indeed sent (apostles) to many a people before you, and inflicted upon them hardships and afflictions so that they might submit.
